PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simulation method of quenching range with which the quenching range can easily be estimated in high accuracy when the quenching treatment is executed by cooling a steel material after heating. SOLUTION: On the basis of a prescribed quenching condition, the cooling rate distribution of the steel material is calculated with simulation (step S3) and, on the other hand, an actual quenching range is measured with actual material tests (step S5). A critical cooling rate within the quenching range is obtd. from the cooling rate distribution (step S6). Subsequently, in an arbitrary quenching condition, the cooling rate distribution is obtained with the simulation (step S8), and the range in which the cooling rate becomes not lower than the critical cooling rate is estimated as the quenching range (step S9).
