PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gas barrier film having gas barrier properties and transparency at a low humidity and a high humidity. SOLUTION: This gas barrier film is a film obtained by forming a coating film comprising inorganic laminar particles and a water-soluble polymer as main constituent components and having d (μm) coating film thickness on at least one side of a thermoplastic resin base. The number of surface projections of the thermoplastic resin base having height Hc (μm) in a range satisfying the formula Hc>=d-0.1 is <2,000/mm2.
