PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet which prevents stain of rolls on the occasion of carrying the sheet and enables formation of an excellent image. SOLUTION: In a thermal transfer sheet having at least one photo-thermal conversion layer 14 and at least one image-forming layer 16 on a substrate, a static friction coefficient of the outermost surface layer on the side whereon the image-forming layer 16 is provided by coating is made 0.35 or below. For this thermal transfer sheet 10, a mode wherein the static friction coefficient is 0.20 or below, a mode wherein the outermost surface layer 16 is the image- forming layer, a mode wherein the photo-thermal conversion layer 14 contains an infrared ray absorbing dye, a mode wherein the outermost surface layer 16 contains a monoester of a 9-27C aliphatic acid and alcohol having 2-5 OH radicals and a mode wherein an image is formed by imagewise exposure by using a laser having a wavelength of 750 nm or above are preferable. |
