PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catheter introducer that can smoothly replace an inner sheath with the most suitable one having a corresponding thickness by inserting an outer sheath that previously houses an inner sheath. SOLUTION: This introducer is provided with an outer sheath 2 covering an inner sheath and a dilator 3 housed in the inner sheath for dilating blood vessel. Valve bodies of the both sheaths hold blood-arrest valves 1f and 2f through seating caps 1e and 2e. The inner sheath is inserted in the outer sheath 2 by screwing a screw adapter 1a of the former to a connector 2a of the outer sheath 2. Then the tube with a sharp tip of the dilator 3 is inserted in the inner sheath and the inner sheath exposing a conical portion at the tip of the tube is pierced through the skin into such a blood vessel as the radial artery, followed by pulling the dilator 3 out of the inner sheath to retain it in the state as inserted into the blood vessel, then a catheter is inserted to perform such medical treatments as picking a closure to remove or roentgenography of a diseased part. |
