PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elastic rail fastening device which receives a load with a spring in normal cases, receives an excessive load with a portal gate of a floor plate when the excessive load is generated, to thereby eliminate damage of a clip and a danger of derail due to an enlarged track width, and has its clip preliminarily set at the floor plate and shifted and fitted when a rail of a laid turnout is set, without completely detaching the clip when the rail is exchanged. SOLUTION: A clip receiving portal gate 2 has wedging groove 2b for an external folding edge of a wire spring clip, formed inside each of gate columns 2a, and the portal gate 2 is arranged on a floor plate 1 in one body. A rail brace 3 which has its rear edge lower corner engaged with a stepped tooth profile locking washer 4, in a halving manner, is inserted into a passage space of the portal gate 2, and its front edge 3a is abutted on an upper web and a base of a rail R, followed by squeezing a central ridge 5a of an almost W- shaped bent wire spring clip 5 from a gap between an upper surface of the rail brace 3 and a bridge 2c of the portal gate 2. Thus, the rail brace 3 is suppressed and the external folding edge 5b of the clip 5 is fitted into the wedging groove 2b.
