PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide heat resistant platinum excellent in high temp. characteristics. SOLUTION: At the time of producing heat resistant platinum contg. 101 to 450 ppm calcium and 0 to 200 ppm zirconium, and the balance inevitable impurities, in a nonoxidizing atmosphere, calcium is added to platinum including inevitable impurities, while dissolution is executed, dissolved oxygen in platinum is converted into calcium oxide to floatingly remove dissolved oxygen, thereafter, platinum is mixed with calcium and zirconium, and they are uniformly dissolved. The heat resistant platinum in which high temp. characteristics are attained from the synergism by the addition of calcium and zirconium and suitable for crucibles, apparatus or the like can be obtd.
