PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly align and sort sheets on plural trays at fixed positions while an attempt to simplify and miniaturize the configuration of a whole device is made. SOLUTION: With this device, when sheets are sorted on respective trays 6, using an indexer 10 which selectively moves to positioned facing plural trays 6, the sheets to be carried out onto the trays 6 are preliminarily position- adjusted first on the indexer 10 side in crosswise direction by a first alignment means 30. After the sheets position-adjusted are carried out onto the trays 6, the position of the sheets is finely adjusted on the trays 6 across the width of the sheets by a second alignment means 50.
