PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gene which codes for a protein having the specific amino acid sequence shown by the table, and is useful for regenerating a denatured protein, stabilizing a protein reagent, producing a recombinant protein, and screening a new immunosuppresant and a physiologically active substance. SOLUTION: This gene codes for (A) a protein having the amino acid sequence shown by the formula, or (B) a protein which has an amino acid sequence modified by deleting, substituting or adding one or more amino acid(s) from, in or to the amino acid sequence shown by the formula, and has a peptidyl prolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase) activity. It is preferable to produce a new FKBP-type PPIase by culturing a host cell containing a recombinant in which the gene was incorporated.
