PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulating material made of a foaming resin capable of facilitating construction work and preventing the occurrence of waste of a material and having high heat insulating effect. SOLUTION: In a heat insulating material 1 having elasticity providing parts 7, 9 which extend in the longitudinal direction and in which groove parts 3 having a depth of a half or more of a thickness of a board 2 are sequentially and alternately formed from both front and rear face sides in the direction of opposite face sides, respectively, on both front and rear faces of the board 2 made of a foaming resin, a support base part 4 in which the groove part 3 is not formed is formed in at least side end part 2a on one side of the board 2, and a handing prevention part 8 in which the groove part 3 is not formed is formed in the elasticity providing parts 7, 9 which are formed following the support base part 4 and in which the groove part 3 is formed to divide the elasticity providing parts 7, 9 into a first elasticity providing part 7 and a second elasticity providing part 9.
