PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pellet of a polyhydroxycarboxylic acid which can effectively be subjected to crystallization and polycondensation reaction in a solid state without causing blocking. SOLUTION: A pellet of a polyhydroxycarboxylic acid is composed of a core portion 1 and a skin portion 2 covering the core portion 1, the core portion is composed of a resin containing a polyhydroxycarboxylic acid having weight average molecular weight(MW) of 2,000 to 30,000, and the skin portion is composed of a resin containing a polyhydroxycarboxylic acid having weight average molecular weight(MW) of 30,000 to 200,000, the resin forming the core has a melting point lower than the resin forming the skin portion, or it does not show a melting point.
