PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure a lens surface position in a stage just before a finishing work to improve the working accuracy by dividing the work into a roughing work process and a finishing work process, and inserting a lens measuring process during the roughing work process. SOLUTION: The measurement of a lens is executed in a stage after a primary roughing work to obtain the information on lens including an edge thickness in a state the deformation caused by holding the lens is not received. The lens is ground to a stage remaining a grinding margin for finishing by a secondary roughing work, then a finishing work is executed similarly as an ordinary process, and the final shape of the lens is obtained by executing a chamferring work at last. By executing the measurement of the lens in the stage during the roughing work, a lens measurement value of high reliability can be obtained, and the shape of the lens can be accurately finished by executing the finishing work thereafter on the basis of the lens measured value.
