PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily produce artificial zeolite at a low cost. SOLUTION: This method for producing artificial zeolite comprises adding sodium silicate, sodium aluminate, and sodium hydroxide to shirasu of volcanic ash sediment and then subjecting the aqueous solution of the mixture to a hydrothermal synthetic process. Therein, the sodium silicate, the sodium aluminate, and the sodium hydroxide which are added to the shirasu are preferably used in amounts of 5 to 61 pts.wt., 12 to 50 pts.wt. and 48 to 200 pts.wt., respectively, per 100 pts.wt. of the shirasu.
