PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator having a stable running performance, in a comparatively high speed elevator. SOLUTION: In this elevator, a winch 6 is arranged on the lower part of an elevator shaft 1 and a first turn pulley 10 is arranged on the upper part of a car 2 and the rope 4 with a hanged car 2 is laid up and wound to the winch 6, after winding to a first turn pulley 10 and exerted so as to hang up the car 2 when the rising direction force is transmitted to the car 2 through the rope 4.
