PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To absorb and mitigate shock energy, mitigate vertical input conversion, and prevent the occurrence of a vertical backlash by arranging a flat absorbing member having an angular section preventing the movement of a sliding member at the portion corresponding to the stop position of a moving rail on a sliding device. SOLUTION: A fixed rail 4 with a nearly U-shaped cross section is fixed to the floor of an automobile via a bracket 2, and a moving rail 5 with an inverted T-shaped cross section and slidable along the fixed rail 4 between the opening sections 3 of the fixed rail 4 is fixed to a seat. A cylindrical roller 6 and a spherical ball 7 are provided between both rails 4, 5 to form a sliding device. A flat rivet 9 having an angular section 9a preventing the movement of the roller 6 at the stop position of the moving rail 5 on its head section 9b is arranged as a connecting member of the fixed rail 4 and bracket 2, the rivet 9 serves as an absorbing member, and the shock energy occurring when the moving rail 5 is abruptly moved can be absorbed.
