PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of defective quality of a surface of a steel plate by discharging a scum film outside a snout before the scum film is adhered to the steel plate even under a condition that the scum film is generated in the snout. SOLUTION: In this method, a scum film generated on a bath surface in a snout 3 is sucked by a metal pump 4 with its suction port 7 held at the position of 10-20 mm below the level in a range of 60-80ϕin the inside diameter of the suction port, the scum film is sucked at the sucking flow rate of molten zinc by the pump set in a range of <=150 l/min, and discharged outside the snout. In a device for sucking and removing the scum film, the inside diameter of the suction port of the metal pump to suck the scum film generated on the bath surface in the snout is set in a range of 60-80ϕ, and the suction port is held at the position of 10-20 mm below the level.
