PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color printer in which winding operation of a color ink ribbon is carried out in a short time while ensuring operational reliability, a winding method of ink ribbon, and a computer readable recording medium. SOLUTION: The color printer comprises a color ink ribbon 15 being inserted between a print head 11 and a recording sheet, a carriage 17 and a driving system thereof for moving the print head 11 and the ink ribbon 15, and a motor for winding the color ink ribbon 15. At the time of print operation, the print head 11 is moved in one direction and the winding motor performs winding operation of the color ink ribbon 15 when the print head is moving in one direction toward the end of line feed position exceeding the end of sheet upon finishing print operation. The winding motor also performs winding operation of the color ink ribbon 15 when the print head is moved in reverse direction from the end of line feed position.
