PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To collect loaded goods by elevating a carrying cage manually at the emergency stop time such as a power cut in a hydraulic elevator. SOLUTION: In this elevator, balance weights 11 (11a, 11b) are provided on the ram 3 engaged with a hydraulic cylinder 1 and a rope 7 on whose tip a carrying cage 10 is connected is engaged with the ram 3 and further a hydraulic circuit communicating the oil supply port 12 for ram ascending and the oil supply port 13 for ram descending of the hydraulic cylinder 1 with two way delivery type hydraulic pump 14 through open/close valves 16a, 16b respectively is provided and they are communicated with an oil tank 25 through a check valves 27,8. Further, a pressuring port 24 and oil return port 26 communicating with a manual pump 23 and oil tank and a manual selector valve 20 having a ram ascending port 21 and ram descending port 22 communicating with the oil supply port for ram ascending and the oil supply port for ram descending port are provided.
