PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the runaway of a carriage even though a malfunction of motor occurs in a condition where the carriage is inclined to the sub-scanning direction. SOLUTION: At least one attaching position of a stopper member which is one of a plurality of stopper members 26 to 29 attached to positions where the members 26 to 29 can abut on the carriages (10) and 11 can be freely changed in the sub-scanning direction on the both-end sides of a range where the carriages (10) and 11 can move. Thus, when the malfunction of the motor occurs in the condition where the carriages (10) and 11 are inclined in the sub- scanning direction, the attaching positions of the members 26 to 29 are changed in the sub-scanning direction; so that the carriages (10) and 11 abut on the members 26 to 29 in the nearly same timing at each of the positions of the carriages (10) and 11, and the impact of collision can be dispersed by entire carriages (10) and 11 in a well-balanced state; the runaway of the carriages (10) and 11 therefore can be prevented.
