摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make image quality deterioration min. even when reading of a small number of pixels is performed by providing a control means for executing addition after replacing a defect pixel signal with a netighboring pixel signal in an image pickup device for adding and reading the pixel signals from a plurality of pixels. SOLUTION: Vertical signal lines VL1, VL2, VL3,... are provided with transfer transistors MT(MT11, MT12,..., MT21, MT22,...) for controlling the transfer of a signal to every odd-number columns and even-number columns. The main purpose of the transfer transistors MT is utilization for the replacement of the odd-number column or the even-number column defect signal in the case of pixel addition reading. That is, the pixels of a horizontal row are commonly controlled by a vertical random access driving circuit (V.ACCESS) 1 so that an input to odd-number column or even-number column memories S11, S12,..., N11, N12,... is controlled to replace the defect signal with a normal signal and to execute addition and reading since a pixel noise or the pixel signals simultaneously exist in the vertical signal lines VL1, VL2, VL3,....
