Production of carbon fiber-based gas denitrification catalysts consists of conversion of polyaramid fibres by heating without disturbing the morphology of the material

The production of carbon-fiber-based gas denitrification catalysts comprises conversion of poly aramid fibres into carbon fibres by heating in e.g. nitrogen. The carbon fibres of ca. 10 micron diameter are based on Kevlar fibres and Nomex production waste fibres. The heating, to drive off the volatiles, does not disturb the morphology of the starting material.
