PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technique to reduce the cost for a liquid crystal display device, technique to reduce the cost for installation of the device, and moreover, technique to improve the visibility of the information displayed in the device. SOLUTION: The back light unit 14 is provided with a sheet-like packing 23 on the two side faces of the back light part 21 as protruding from the side faces. The packing 23 bends when the back light unit 14 is inserted into the inside of the cover of a liquid crystal display device and it becomes tightly in contact with the inner face of the cover by its elastic force. Therefore, the back light unit 14 can be held in a stable state in the inside of the cover in the liquid crystal display device.
