PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform image composition with a simple operation by reading only a 1st original with a low reading density, reading 2nd and succeeding originals with a normal density and composing them. SOLUTION: When an operator selects an item 'composition of 1st page' from a composite copy menu on a panel 109, a read mode is automatically set and image data are processed with different density and image quality from those of setting values on the panel. In this case, an original is read with a lower density than that on the panel, and a 1st page memory 103 stores image data of the read 1st original. Then the read mode is changed and the data are processed according to the set state of the panel. Then a 2nd original is read and the image data are stored in a 2nd page memory 104. An image edit section 102 respectively reads the image data stored in the 1st page memory 103 and the 2nd page memory 104 to compose them into single image data. |
