PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal device which is improved in the security of data handled by a main body by enabling an service engineer, etc., to speedily confirm whether or not a host device has been altered illegally by informing the host device of the occurrence of an abnormal state when the power source is turned ON in a time zone wherein the main body is usually not used. SOLUTION: When the main body is powered ON in a monitor time zone wherein the power source is not turned ON in usual use environment, a CAT1 decides that an abnormal state is generated and stores its time, etc., as monitor information. Then the occurrence of the abnormal state is reported to a maintenance management device 3 in proper timing (e.g. when a communication with the host device 2, etc., is made for the first time after the occurrence of the abnormal state). A service engineer, etc., can be made to confirm whether or not this terminal device has been altered illegally in response to the information, so a terminal device having been altered illegally can speedily be coped with and the security of data handled by the terminal device is improved. |
