摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the memory bandwidth for reference-reading of the 2-way prediction coded image and to attain decoding.display processing of a coded image in compliance with the MPEG 2 with high resolution in real time by reading and decoding only one of the past and future images of a macro block coded by 2-way prediction as a reference image. SOLUTION: Coded image data received by the decording.display device 1 are transferred via a data bus 7 and a memory I/F 8 to an external memory 2, where the data are stored in an ES buffer 21. The memory I/F 8 reads again the stored coded image data and the data are transferred to a VLD 3, where the coed image data are variable-length-decoded and the decoded image data are given to an IQ 4. There are three prediction modes for a macro block decoded from coded image data; a forward prediction using a past image, a backward prediction using a future image and 2-way prediction using the past and future images.</p>
