PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain stable traveling performance of a belt, without biasing and meandering by setting an endless belt shaped transfer member, so that the relation between diameter of the circumference of the end calculated from peripheral length of the end and average thickness of the end satisfies a specified conditional expression. SOLUTION: A surface roughness Rz of an endless belt shaped transfer member is within a range of 0.08 to 1.30μm and a maximum value of volume resistance thereof is within 90-fold of the minimum value. When it is assumed that the diameter (mm) of the circumference of the end calculated from the peripheral length of the end of the belt is R1 and R2 and the average thickness (μm) of the end is Z1 and Z2, they satisfy conditional expressions:|R1-R2|<=0.8 mm,|R1-R2|/L4<=4×10-2 and 0.8<Z2/Z1<1.2, where L is the width of the (mm). This transfer belt is always rotated at constant speed when it is laid on a transfer unit and rotated, and since a force exerted on both ends of the belt from stopping time to start time is generated uniformly, the belt will not be distorted, and will not meander nor be biased at traveling.
