PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive battery pack of high safety, suited to a portable information terminal or the like. SOLUTION: This battery pack is formed with an input terminal 7 for inputting a power supply start signal from the outside of a body device 2, a charger or the like. When a power supply start signal (WAKE-UP-POWER) is inputted into the input terminal 7, a pack power supply control circuit 19 connects power supply to a protective circuit part 4 and a control circuit part 5 from a battery 3, and when the power supply start signal is not input into the input terminal 7, it shuts down the power supply to the protective circuit part 4 and the control circuit part 5. A power supply output terminal 8 is also provided for applying voltage from the battery 3 to the input terminal 7 as the power supply start signal, via an external main power switch 12.
