PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processor and a signal processing method for changing the detecting characteristics of non-linear processing without necessitating large memory quantity. SOLUTION: This signal processor is provided with a first substractor 3 for obtaining a difference signal between an input video signal and a video signal before one frame, an attenuator 4 for operating non-linear processing to the difference signal obtained by the first subtractor 3 based on the characteristic curve obtained by calculation, and a second substrator 5 for combining the input video signal and the signal to which the non-linear processing is operated by the attenuator 4.
