PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a cathode-ray tube, capable of easily improving the linearity of the edge of a light-absorbing layer, even when a region having light intensity distribution for degrading the linearly of the edge of the light absorbing layer. SOLUTION: This method comprises a process (process P1) for applying a photosensitive film to the inner surface of a panel of a cathode-ray tube, a process (process P2) for mounting a color selecting mechanism body at a height differing from a design value from the inner surface of the panel, processes (processes P3, P4) for passing an exposure light beam from an opening in the color selecting mechanism to expose and develop the photosensitive film, process (processes P5, P6, P7) for forming a light-absorbing layer, a process (process P9) for separating the color selecting mechanism from the panel, and process (processes P10, P11) for mounting the color selecting mechanism body at a designed height value from the inner surface of the panel.
