PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for an electric component capable of reducing the number of components and miniaturizing a device as a whole. SOLUTION: This IC socket has such a structure that while contact pins each capable of abutting on and separating from the terminals of an electric component are installed and a slide plate 17 is slidably formed in a socket body 13, an operation member 19 is installed movably with respect to the socket body 13, and each contact part formed at a tip part of an elastic piece is displaced to separate it from the side face part of the terminal of the electric component by moving the operation member 19 and thereby sliding the slide plate 17. In this case, the structure is so composed that inclined surface parts 17b are formed on the slide plate 17, moving rollers 19e each rolling on the inclined surface part 17b are formed in the operation member 19, the moving rollers 19e roll on the inclined surface parts 17b and the slide plate 17 is slid by moving the operation member 19 vertically to the upper surface 13d of the socket body.
