PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make reducible the irregularity of a picture to be displayed in a projection type display device. SOLUTION: At least one polarizing plate 302Bo of the light incident surface side or the light emitting surface side of an electro-optical device is stuck to the upper part of a sapphire glass plate 308. It is preferable that the plate 308 is formed of monocrystal sapphire. Besides, it is preferable that the plate 30 is held by a metal-made holding frame 310. Moreover, it is preferable that the plate 308 and the frame 310 are stuck by adhesive agent whose heat conductivity is excellent.
