PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten transmission time of image data. SOLUTION: A transmission/reception system 80A consists of a portable telephone 40A and a digital still camera 1A. The portable telephone 40A selects an image to be sent and transmits data denoting its frame number to the camera 1A. The portable telephone 40A transmits a resize instruction to the camera 1A. The camera 1A conducts resize processing so as to reduce the quantity of the image data. The camera 1A transmits the image data whose resize processing is finished to the portable telephone 40A. The portable telephone 40A transmits the image data subjected to resize processing to a transmission reception system 80B via a network. Since the quantity of the image data is reduced through the resize processing, the transmission processing of the image data is finished in a comparatively short time.
