PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent magnetic powder or the like from sticking to a permanent magnet and to effectively remove the magnetic powder or the like from a magnetic reading head even if the magnetic powder or the like is transferred to the magnetic reading head. SOLUTION: This magnetic reader is provided with the magnetizing mechanism part 40 for magnetizing magnetic ink characters (MICR characters) on a check paper and the magnetic reading head 30 for reading MICR characters 5a magnetized by the magnetizing mechanism part 40. The magnetizing mechanism part 40 is composed of an electric magnet 41, a first yoke member 42, a second yoke member 43 and a third yoke member 44. When the third yoke member 44 is separated from the first yoke member 42 and is rotationally moved, the magnetic circuit of the magnetizing mechanism part 40 is opened. When the third yoke member 44 is connected to the first yoke member 42, the magnetic circuit of the magnetizing mechanism part 40 is closed. |
