PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the current consumption of an input output circuit for a semiconductor device. SOLUTION: An input output circuit 11 has a control signal generator 116 that controls a selective operation of a selector 113 and an output operation of a tristate output buffer 115 with two different control signals OE, SEL respectively. In an input state, where the tristate output buffer 115 reaches the high impedance state by one (OE) of the different control signals, when the selector 113 selects consecutive data streams D1-D4 given to an input output common use terminal 10a of an input buffer 111 and the output buffer 115 as external input data and an output side latch 114 latches the data stream, a selector control signal SEL of the selector 113 is generated in only the same clock timing as a data output timing of the final order, in consecutive data streams to allow the output side latch 114 to latch only the final data D4. Thus, number of times of operations of the output side latch at an input operation can be suppressed, to reduce the current consumption.
