PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently execute picture data processing in a facsimile equipment(FAX) by optionally using storing processing and direct processing in accordance with a request from a data terminal equipment. SOLUTION: In the case of requesting the transmission of picture data to a FAX 1, a personal computer(PC) 2 determines which is used as a processing method, storing processing or direct processing, on the basis of the contents of the picture data transmission and user's selection and specifies the FAX 1. A CPU 11 in the FAX 1 executes requested picture data transmission by storing processing when the storing processing is specified from the PC 2 or executes it by direct processing when the direct processing is specified.
