PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile communication system where position information of a mobile set can be acquired at a short interval repetitively by suppressing an amount of use of a wireless resource at a low load independently of synchronization and asynchronization between base stations. SOLUTION: A mobile station acquiring position information receives a notice channel periodically sent from a base station (step 100). Contents of this notice channel and reception timing are acquired (step 101). A database is retrieved and when a base station cell/sector number is not registered (steps 102, 103), the base station cell/sector number whose transmission timing is not registered is newly added (step 104). In the case the acquisition of the transmission timing of the notice channel is required, the transmission timing is acquired (steps 105, 106). A propagation delay of the notice channel or a propagation delay difference among a plurality of periodic notice channels is calculated on the basis of the transmission timing and the reception timing of the notice channel (step 107). Position information of the mobile set is calculated and outputted on the basis of the propagation delay or the propagation delay difference (steps 108, 109, 110).
