PURPOSE: Select lever controlling structure for an automatic transmission of a step gate type in a vehicle is provided to conveniently control a select lever by simplifying structure and to prevent an accident. CONSTITUTION: Select lever controlling structure for an automatic transmission of a step gate type comprises a cap console(10) having a select lever passage(10a) of a zigzag shape; a rotational shaft(11) rotationally mounted on a support base; a hinge shaft assembling hole penetrating the rotational shaft; a select lever(12) having a bar shape; a handle(12a) attached to an upper portion of the select lever; a combining link(12b) connected to a lower portion of the select lever; a hinge shaft(14) assembling the select lever to the hinge shaft assembling hole; a combining unit(14a) formed on an end side of the hinge shaft; an elastic member(15) elastically supporting the select lever by being composed of a tension spring; a solenoid(13) fixed on the support base; and an actuator(13b) formed on the solenoid corresponding to the hinge shaft.
