PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coin receiving and dispensing device capable of speedily paying out an accurate money amount even in occurrence of clogging with coins. SOLUTION: A coin receiving and dispensing device houses coins fed into a coin feeding port by selecting by each denomination and pays out the housed coins to a coin paying out port by a prescribed amount of money at. At the time of paying out prescribed number of prescribed denominations by receiving data on a paying scheduled amount (step S2 to S3), the number of coins to be paid out to the coin paying out port is counted (step S4) and in the case that the number of the coins to pay out to the coin paying out port is short due to the occurrence of clogging with coins, etc., (Y at a step S5), the shorted portion of he money amount is alternated by denomination except for the short denomination so as to pay out (steps S6 to S7). Thus, an accurate money amount can speedily be paid out even in occurrence of clogging with coins.
