The torque transmission system, consisting of a clutch (E) between an engine (M) and a gearbox (BV), is designed so that the clutch pressure can be regulated outside the starting and gear change phases so that it slips if overloaded. The torque that can be transmitted by the clutch is set at a threshold level slightly above the maximum torque the engine can provide and is adjusted in stages to keep it close to that level. The output of the engine and torque received by the shaft are monitored by a control unit (T) which is linked to the clutch by a motor (M1) governing the clutch pressure.
