PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a fixed pattern noise which occurs due to the dispersion of a residual image characteristics in an imaging device and to reduce the nonuniformity of optical response output by applying potential at least a plurality of times by which a switch means is enabled to transfer electric charges at the time of transferring signal charges from an accumulation part to a photoelectric conversion part. SOLUTION: When one row is optionally selected by a vertical scanning circuit 10, a selected pulseΦSEL becomes a high level and a source follower circuit is turned on. Then the control pulseΦTX of a transfer switch becomes intermittent the high level and the high level application is executed twice. Thus, signal electric charges are quickly transferred from a photodiode 1 to a floating diffusion layer, the control pulseΦTS of a transfer gate 8a becomes high and the photoelectric conversion output of pixels is inputted to a line memory 11. The photoelectric conversion output and a reset output are differentially calculated by a pre-stage differential amplifier 13 so that the fixing pattern noise owing to the dispersion of element characteristics is removed.
