PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable heat exchange of a high-temperature exhaust gas and to prevent a corrosion of a heat transfer tube due to the gas by providing a shielding wall between a flow passage in a shell and a periphery of a body of the tube, and using the wall as a corrosion preventing means of an outer wall of the tube body. SOLUTION: The heat exchanger 10 comprises a shell 20, a cold air header 30, a hot gas header 50, a plurality of heat transfer tubes 40 and a shielding wall 60. The wall 60 is formed by stacking many heat resistant and heat conductive block members 61 to form a cylindrical space between a flow passage 15 of an exhaust gas A in the shell 20 and a tube body 45 of the tube 40. An air B to be preheated is passed through the body 45 of the tube from an inlet 33 of the header 30, and exhausted from an exhaust port 53 of the header 50. The gas A is heat exchanged with the air B while passing through the passage 15. Thus, since the gas A is not brought into direct contact with the tube 40, a corrosion of the tube 40 is prevented.
