PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an automatic document feeder where operation is made convenient by having visibility of an ejected document improved, a picture reader provided with it and an image forming device. SOLUTION: In this feeder, a document setting table 10, separating carrying means such as a separating paper feeding part 2 and a resist part 3, an ejected paper carrying means such as a 1st reading carrying part 5 carrying the read document to a waste paper stacker 90, a reverse carrying part 8 carrying the read document upstream or downstream on a switchback path 8a above the paper stacker and a switching means such as a reverse switching claw 80 switching a carrying direction of the document are provided. Furthermore, a small sized document is ejected from the switchback path 8a based on detected information from sensors 12, 14, 32 or the like.
