PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the rise of a fog in a developed sample with the lapse of time by incorporating a specified nitrogen-containing compound having a pair of halogen atoms and a specified compound. SOLUTION: The heat developable photographic sensitive material has a layer containing at least photosensitive silver halide, an organic silver salt, a reducing agent and a binder on the substrate and contains at least one nitrogen-containing compound having a pair of halogen atoms represented by formula I, formula II or the like and a compound of formula III. In the formulae I and II, Hal1-Hal4 are each a halogen, X is an anionic group, m X1' is F-, Cl- or I-, R1 is a group having a carbonyl group as a partial structure, R2 and R3 are each H or a substituent substitutable on N, (n) is 1 or 2 and Z is a group of atoms required to form a 5- to 7-membered N-containing heterocycle together with adjacent N. In the formula II, [Q(N)] is a group of atoms required to form an N-containing 6- to 10-membered unsaturated heterocycle and R is H or another group.
