PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a plasma display panel to perform stable discharge while having high luminance and high luminous efficient. SOLUTION: Self-erasing discharge, that is, reduction of potential differences among electrodes are performed with respect to a plasma display panel having at least three kinds of electrodes, a first electrode 1, a second electrodes 2 and a third electrode 3. At this time, discharge is caused by attraction of their own barrier electric charge, and when potential differences among the electrodes are increased, the plasma display panel is made to generate discharge and to emit light with self-erasing discharge as a trigger.
