PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal-type optical reader where the identification property of an object to which code data is given and a display content displayed on the optical reader is improved and a liquid crystal element can be thinned and to provide the optical reading method. SOLUTION: In a portable terminal-type optical reader 100, recorded code data is optically read, information corresponding to obtained code data is displayed and reading information is outputted to an outer part. A picture information storage part storing code data and picture information of an object corresponding to code data, a reading part (bar code reading part 10) reading code data from reflected light when the reading object is irradiated with light and a picture display part (liquid crystal display part 12) displaying picture information corresponding to code data obtained by the reading part 10 are installed. The thickness of the picture display part is thinned. |
