PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain communication with various composite modes by selecting any of a plurality of remote control programs and controlling a peripheral device or a communication means coping with the selected remote control program. SOLUTION: An infrared ray signal 103 introduces an output of a remote controller 13 to a multimedia signal control processing means 100 through radio transmission and a remote control program in response to a kind of the remote controller 13 is read from a storage means 105 on the basis of the kind of the infrared ray signal 103. Then an operator uses the remote controller to allow a remote control signal emulation means to convert the signal of the program into a proper signal form so as to remotely control a corresponding peripheral device. The remote control signal emulation means 117 identifies various connected AV devices of each company under the control of a multimedia signal control processing means 100 and outputs an infrared ray control signal 118 by converting a signal and control instruction or the like. The infrared ray control signal 118 controls the various connected AV devices of each company through identification.
