PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the operation time of each outdoor unit and each fixed displacement compressor uniform, by rotating the fixed displacement compressors of each outdoor unit in such a manner that they are operated in the order of increasing accumulated time of operation. SOLUTION: A multi-unit air conditioner comprises a plurality of indoor units 5 having four outdoor units 1A to 1D that are arranged in parallel by a communication wire 30 and refrigerant piping 4. The outdoor unit is provided with a variable displacement compressor 10A and fixed displacement compressors 11A to 11D. By an outdoor unit rotating means, each of the outdoor units 1A to 1D is operated preferentially from the one with short accumulated time of operation. By the outdoor unit rotating means, the operation commands of the outdoor units are issued cyclically at the time of the increase in load in the indoor unit side. If one fixed displacement compressor of the outdoor units having a higher priority is operated, one fixed displacement compressor having a next high priority is operated. The command of stopping the operating fixed displacement compressor is issued following the decrease in load.
