LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT, ITS PRODUCTION AND ITS EVALUATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal display element reduced in optical hysteresis and enhanced in display quality. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display element is constituted of a lower substrate 2, an upper substrate 1 disposed oppositely to the substrate 2 and a liquid crystal/polymer composite layer 7 disposed between the substrates 1, 2 so that the layer 7 has a region A and a region B different from each other in a impressed voltage versus light transmittance characteristics in one pixel. As a result, the impressed voltage versus light transmittance characteristics in regions A and B are averaged so that an apparent applied voltage versus light transmittance characteristics moderated in sharpness is obtained and the optical hysteresis is reduced.
