PURPOSE: A method for processing a paging response is provided to effectively process a paging call in a base station controller(BSC) when a mobile switching center(MSC) attempts paging, to improve the paging response on a wire including first paging and second paging, so that an overload of a system in paging can be reduced and a processing time on wire can be reduced. CONSTITUTION: If a request for paging is received from a mobile switching center(MSC), whether the paging is first/second paging is decided. If the first paging, a position for assigning new first paging is decided. A mobile identification number(MIN) paging-requested in the MSC is decided. If a first paging response does not exist, a timer is used for processing. Whether an index storing the first paging information, or 'i' is smaller/larger than a first value for searching in a paging response or second paging is decided. If the 'i' is smaller, the first value is turned to the 'i'. If the 'i' is larger, whether the 'i' is larger than a last value is decided. If the 'i' is larger, the last value is turned to the 'i', and paging is transmitted to the BTS. In case of the second paging, whether first paging exists is decided. If so, the MIN paging-requested in the MSC is decided. If a second paging response does not exist, the timer is used for processing. Whether an index storing the second paging information, or 'i' is smaller/larger than a first value is decided. If the 'i' is smaller, the first value is turned to the 'i'. If the 'i' is larger, the last value is turned to the 'i', and paging is transmitted to the BTS.
