摘要 PURPOSE: A system and a method for detecting misfire of an engine by frequency analysis are provided to reduce software burden of an electronic control unit by judging the engine misfire by a simple detecting method, and increase efficiency of combustion while reducing pollutant by inducing complete combustion. CONSTITUTION: A method for detecting misfire of an engine by frequency analysis includes the steps of starting an engine misfire detection in an electronic control unit(S10), obtaining an angle acceleration velocity of a fly wheel connected to a crank shaft via an engine misfire detecting system(S20), obtaining a real number part(RLL) and an imaginary number part(IMM) by frequency-analyzing of the angle acceleration velocity(S30), obtaining an amplitude size of the frequency component(SQRDFT) according to the obtained RLL and IMM(S40), and determining misfire by comparing the obtained SQRDFT and a predetermined reference value if the obtained SQRDFT is larger than reference value(S50).
