A system which provides a variety of services by using an electronic program guide (EPG) and encourages the use of such services. Pressing an EPG key on a remote control outputs EPG-related information accumulated in a RAM onto an image display unit (2). The EPG (50) is displayed on the upper 4/5 portion of the screen of the image display unit (2), with service information displayed in a column (60) on the remaining 1/5 portion. The column (60) displays questionnaire, commercial, commodity sale, and retrieval service; when a user selects a service of one's choice out of these onscreen services, the user can receive that service and, in addition, obtain points set correspondingly to each service, thereby encouraging the use of these services. |
